| Description | The European Commission has concluded that the European Union is significantly narrowing the gap towards its 2030 climate and energy targets, following an assessment of updated National Energy and Climate Plans (NECPs) submitted by Member States.
After incorporating recommendations issued by the Commission in December 2023, EU countries have substantially strengthened their plans. Collectively, the EU is now closing in on a 55% reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2030, as required under the European Climate Law, and on achieving a renewable energy share of at least 42.5%. |
