| Description | This article outlines the role of Interreg B (Transnational Cooperation) in supporting climate-focused cooperation in the Danube region during the 2021–2027 programming period. It explains how the Danube Region Programme aligns with the Cohesion Policy objective “A greener Europe” and the EU Strategy for the Danube Region to address shared climate challenges at macro-regional scale. The article describes the programme area, typical budgets and co-financing arrangements, and the transnational partnership model required for project implementation. It highlights key climate-relevant priorities such as flood and drought risk management, ecosystem restoration, climate-resilient infrastructure and low-carbon transitions. Overall, Interreg B is presented as a strategic instrument for translating EU climate objectives into coordinated, river-basin-wide solutions across the Danube macro-region. |
