| Description | This article provides an overview of Interreg A (Cross-Border Cooperation) in the 2021–2027 period, with a focus on climate-focused cooperation in the Danube region. It explains how Interreg A aligns with the Cohesion Policy objective “A greener Europe” and supports joint cross-border action on climate change mitigation, adaptation and environmental protection. The article outlines the landscape of bilateral CBC programmes in Danube countries, including typical budgets and co-financing arrangements. It highlights the main climate-relevant project types, such as flood and drought risk management, nature-based solutions, low-carbon local development and climate-resilient governance. Overall, Interreg A is presented as a practical funding mechanism for translating EU climate priorities into concrete, place-based solutions in border regions. |
