DescriptionBristol has emerged as a leading European city in the development of innovative climate finance mechanisms to support its net-zero transition. This article examines how Bristol combines large-scale public–private partnerships, citizen-based investment instruments, and finance innovation platforms to mobilise capital for climate action beyond traditional municipal funding. The analysis focuses on the Bristol City Leap partnership, Bristol Climate Action Investment, and the Net Zero Investment Co-Innovation Lab. Together, these mechanisms illustrate how cities can build integrated, scalable, and participatory climate finance ecosystems. The Bristol case provides transferable lessons for other cities seeking to accelerate decarbonisation while ensuring transparency, inclusiveness, and financial credibility.
